Self and time management skill in property management 15 Aug 2019 - Nuvaq News
Nuvaq is an asset management company. Thus self and time management skill comprises the most important skill set every Nuvaq employee must have. Self and time management is second nature to every Nuvaq employee. This is because if we do not have the discipline to manage ourselves and to manage our time, how then can our clients entrust us to manage their most important financial asset.
Using a diary:
There are various regulatory rules with regard to property management. Diarising important dates such as move in dates, return of entry condition report, issue of of entry and breach notices, etc, are only several of the events that a property manager have to keep track of every day. Using a diary correctly and effectively is the most basic self and time management skill that a Nuvaq employee must learn.
The biggest mistake people make with a diary is to use it as a to do list or notebook. Nuvaq employees are trained to use a diary to organise his/her day by deliberately scheduling in pre-planned events. We have tried so many tested ways of using a diary, including electronic diaries, pre scheduled alarms, etc, but over time, nothing beats a good old diary. When used correctly, we can physically see how many jobs are scheduled in for a day. That will then guide us as to how full our day is and whether or not we can schedule more jobs within the day.
Email Management:
Have you ever been overwhelmed when it comes to emails? Did you know that we sometimes receive almost a hundred email a day a person? How then do we manage an overwhelming amount of emails and demand on our time? Effective email management is the second self and time management skill that all Nuvaq employees are trained in. We are overwhelmed only when we do not have an efficient email management system.
Nuvaq employees are trained with the 5 step email management system that allows us to manage ourselves and our time effectively and help us complete a task successfully.
Communication:
Effective time and self management skill is complemented only by close knit communication with the team members. This is because everything we do creates a ripple effect on someone else in the company. Organising a maintenance for a tenant means the property manager must preempt that the front desk must be advised of the arrival of the maintenance person who collects keys to the property. Therefore, without close communication with the other departments, it is impossible to manage a property efficiently.
Nuvaq subscribes to the latest communication app for every employee so all staff is kept up to date with tasks that may affect them. Tasks can be assigned to an employee, and when completed, the property manager can be duly advised. The latest technology means less miscommunication and more management.

At Nuvaq, we passionately love what we do and believe in using traditional method and the latest technology to effectively manage our client’s most important asset. Speak to a Nuvaq staff and experience for yourself the Nuvaq difference.
